Farmer’s Ferry Public Access Site

Historically, this site was a point along the West Fork of the White River where the last operating ferry in Indiana crossed the boundary between Highland and Jefferson Townships (just south of the Owen County line) and 4½ miles east of SR 67 along CR 990N then south to River.  The ferry ran until 1989, but today the site provides access to the White River for various recreational activities.  From this point to Elliston is a 17-mile, 6-hour floating excursion winding primarily through farmland and through the east side of the community of Worthington just south of the convergence of the Eel and White Rivers.  For additional information:  “Farmer’s Ferry” by Lisa Goodson.
